Acne Treatment Tips for Backs
Back Acne Treatment Tip #1
Acne treatment has come a long way, especially for acne on the back.
This type of acne is able to withstand more acne treatment than face
acne because the skin on the back is tougher than on the face.
Back acne, also known as body acne, responds to acne treatment and
usually strikes the back, buttocks, upper arms, and shoulders. This
type of acne appears in several forms, blackheads, pustules, pimples,
and cysts. Cysts are the most painful form of back acne. A
dermatologist usually prescribes acne treatment for cyst acne.
Back acne usually starts around puberty when the sebaceous glands start
producing sebum. Hair follicles and pores are clogged by an over
production of sebum. This attracts bacteria and leads to the formation
of acne. Many wives tales, such as tight clothing, fatty foods, extreme
sweating, stress, and genetics, have not been proven to cause acne.
Back Acne Treatment Tip #2
Severe back acne requires acne treatment by a dermatologist. Acne
treatment options for mild back acne include washing the area affected
with back acne with an anti-bacterial cleanser. Do not use regular soap
as an acne treatment. After the skin dries, apply a ten percent benzoyl
peroxide cream or gel.
Back Acne Treatment Tip #3
For some extra treatment, use an alpha hydroxyl cream or lotion
along with the benzoyl peroxide. Keep in mind that benzoyl peroxide can
bleach the fabric of your clothes touching it.
Back Acne Prevention Tips
Preventing back acne is easier than treating back acne. Prevention
techniques include exfoliating the skin with a sugar scrub to rub away
dead skin cells. Do this once a week, paying particular attention to
the arms, back, and buttocks. Other prevention measures include:
- Showering daily
- Wearing clothing made of natural cotton
- Using powder to keep the area affected dry
- Using antiperspirant
Sufferers should always dress in clean clothing because the bacterium
that remains on clothes aggravates back acne. Changing clothes a couple
of times a day helps avoid this bacterium.
Carry some clean white towels and extra clean clothing to the gym for
drying off and redressing after a workout, especially if you cannot
shower. Taking a show after sweating or working out is preferable.
Natural acne treatment for back acne softens the skin. Natural acne
treatment includes using sodium-hydroxide soap, tea tree oil, or
homemade lye.
